The Shamanic Calendar observes 8 seasonal celebrations including the Summer and Winter Solstice; Spring and Fall Equinox; and four midways between observations. Each celebration has its own unique flavor and addresses light and the cycles of birth, growth, death. New Moon and Full Moon observations honor beginnings and completions. Each ceremony is created to educate and provide active demonstration and participation. A Medicine Wheel or altar is setup for the ceremony being celebrated and a formal calling in of The Directions opens the event.
